Description

Vera hardware

Dear Vera users,

Vera is undergoing a major upgrade. In the coming weeks most of the older Intel nodes (with the Skylake architecture) will be retired. The retired nodes will be replaced by new AMD Zen4-based nodes, and will be the default node type when logging in and submitting jobs. At the same time, the operating system on Vera will be upgraded to Rocky Linux 9. The old Skylake nodes will still be around for a few weeks, however, the default node type will change already tomorrow. You might be impacted by the changes when you submit new jobs, especially if you rely on Intel compilers. There may also be temporary interruptions while we perform the changes. More information about the new nodes can be found in our news page:

On February 5th, C3SE will give an introduction seminar aimed at all users. As in the previous introduction seminars, we will introduce Chalmers e-Commons/C3SE and our HPC resources, but we will also take some time to introduce the new hardwares and how to use them. This information is particularly important for the users compiling their own software on Vera. For new users, it is important to participate the seminar or read the introduction slides before using Vera: https://www.c3se.chalmers.se/documentation/for_users/intro-vera/slides/

The seminar will be hosted in MVH12 lecture room. You can find the event on Chalmers Indico: https://indico.chalmers.se/event/237/. Please register it if you are coming in person. We are open to drop in but this helps you reserve a seat.
